• Located at California State University – Channel Islands, in the Biology Department, the Tapia Lab focuses on unraveling the mysteries of desiccation tolerance in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a model organism for studying anhydrobiosis. We are driven by a passion to understand the molecular mechanisms that allow life to survive extreme dehydration.
Our lab is proudly undergraduate-driven, providing students with hands-on research experience and the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge scientific discovery.

As part of WALII (Water and Life Interface Institute), we collaborate with leading researchers in the study of desiccation biology.
